The Knight of Light
Once upon a time, there was a young, remarkable, brave, and cheerful Knight of Light who was always happily playing, drawing, and singing. In doing so, she let her light shine on the world around her.
At a certain point, several things happened in her life that she didn’t understand very well, and didn’t like very much. She felt all kinds of feelings of concern, fear, loneliness, and sadness. Some of those feelings were her own, but she picked up most of them from others in the world around her. Knights of Light are very sensitive to that, especially when they themselves radiate a little less light.
Because she didn’t know all this, she thought that all those feelings were her own. As a result, she also started to believe the thoughts that go with such feelings. Thoughts like something’s wrong and it might never be right again. And even that it might all be because of her. That she had done something wrong or that there was something wrong with her. And because of that, she felt even worse. She didn’t like playing anymore and it even made her body hurt.
The people around her saw her radiant light shine less and less. They wanted to help her, but didn’t know how. The Knight didn’t want their help, so she closed herself off from the world. Deep down she thought that it was pointless and that it was all her fault. And even though she felt bad, it also felt safe this way. If people just stayed away from her, they couldn’t hurt her either.
